To begin, my insulin pump stopped working for at least eight days.\u00a0 Not familiar with such a device?\u00a0 Well, I won’t share a long description or explanation.\u00a0 Briefly, it is a computerized machine, similar to a human pancreas, that I wear on\u00a0my waistband.\u00a0 That’s the simple part.\u00a0 When it refuses to operate\u00a0properly and as programmed, sickness occurs.\u00a0 As an insulin-dependent diabetic for over fifty years now, being without insulin for even a very short period of time turns me into a physical, emotional, and psychological mess!\u00a0 It’s just plain awful.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With that said, I contacted my dependable pharmacy for a refill on a box of one hundred syringes and one vial of a long-lasting type of insulin.\u00a0 Seventy-six dollars later, I was at a teary point.\u00a0 How many times must a person budget a budget?!\u00a0 I guess as many times as it takes.\u00a0 Not easy.<\/p>\n
To go on, the scheduled carpet cleaners were expected at 10:00am and did not show until 5:00pm.\u00a0 Okay, I swallowed my tongue and got over that.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Then, one of my two dogs had diarrhea.\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 Not a pretty sight.\u00a0 Again, I took care of that.<\/p>\n
Due to something I wrote in my book, an autobiography mind you, insulted a family member.\u00a0 She has not spoken to me for six days.\u00a0\u00a0 Good Lord!<\/p>\n
Wait, I’m not done yet!<\/p>\n
A member of the\u00a0charitable organization that is to receive proceeds from the sale of the aforementioned autobiography e-mailed\u00a0me a request to stop mentioning the book on their newsgroup.\u00a0 Can you believe that?!\u00a0 I am beside myself – with a hole in my heart!\u00a0 How can that even be a possibility?!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
To top it off, my telephone stopped working.\u00a0 That\u00a0could actually be a good thing, if you really think about it.\u00a0 However, I was\u00a0unable to place outgoing calls for three days.\u00a0 Ho hum.<\/p>\n
With my husband being in La (comic relief for “Los Angeles”), I try my hardest not to complain and put all these conundrums in a humorous light.\u00a0 After all, there’s nothing he can do.\u00a0\u00a0 So, I go on.<\/p>\n
