Keeping up with knowledge and\u00a0highlighting what I know in many facets of my life, I occasionally peruse the local library.\u00a0 As the\u00a0neighborhood library\u00a0is\u00a0an exact mile from my house, walking there and back is an extra positive for my daily diabetes care regimen.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While there,\u00a0I came across a childrens’ book on Diabetes.\u00a0 No longer a child myself and having lived with diabetes for over fifty years, I was curious to see what writings, books, were available to the newly diagnosed diabetics, especially the children.\u00a0 Not much has changed, really.\u00a0 All of the avialable\u00a0childrens’ books pertaining to diabetes are uplifting, encouraging.\u00a0 That was certainly not the case when I was a child in the 1960’s.\u00a0 Oh well.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I found one particular book entitled plainly\u00a0“Diabetes,” by Gail B. Stewart, copyright 1999.\u00a0\u00a0 I learned something!\u00a0 Chapter 1 immediately details the history of diabetes as I have never known.\u00a0 I re-write this for you here:<\/p>\n
