{"id":220,"date":"2010-05-24T14:58:39","date_gmt":"2010-05-24T14:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buckroth.wordpress.com\/?p=220"},"modified":"2010-05-24T14:58:39","modified_gmt":"2010-05-24T14:58:39","slug":"camping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mydiabeticsoul.com\/?p=220","title":{"rendered":"Camping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What comes to your mind when someone mentions &#8220;camping&#8221; or says &#8220;I&#8217;m going camping?&#8221; Visions of tent setups and sleeping inside one in a &#8216;sleeping bag?&#8217;\u00a0 A fire hole built with stone and wood, allowing the roasting of hot dogs and marshmallows?\u00a0 Gazing at the universe of stars on a clear night?\u00a0 Any number of positive visualizations come forth, right?\u00a0 Well, that is where I was for the last five days &#8211; &#8216;camping.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not ever thinking of the adage &#8220;expect the unexpected,&#8221; I went forth headlong through many preparations a week beforehand until arriving at the final destination.\u00a0 Grateful to own a &#8216;pop-up&#8217; trailer, that in itself took two hours to set up.\u00a0 The weather did not help.\u00a0 Knowing in advance that the temperature would not be above 60 degrees fahrenheit, that came and went quickly at three o&#8217;clock in one\u00a0afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Then the\u00a0unexpected arrived: hail, rain, more hail, wind, a temperature high of 27 degrees, more rain then snow.\u00a0 Too wet to light a match to, the wood pile remained in the mud.\u00a0 The portable heater ran 24\/7; even the dogs shivered.\u00a0 Having to walk them, I did so, pleasantly.\u00a0 But they\u00a0did not want to\u00a0eat due to the strange environ.\u00a0 Oh well.\u00a0 After four days, we made it home safely, to the warmth and comfort of our home.<\/p>\n<p>With all that being done, I became ever-so-grateful\u00a0for what I have and what I do not have.\u00a0 That concept of thought is really quite simple.\u00a0 Think about it.\u00a0\u00a0 Use it.\u00a0 Be grateful.\u00a0 I am.<\/p>\n<p>A.
