Buckroth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This article <\/strong>introduces you to a <em>successful life <\/em>of a diabetic.\u00a0 Through the publication of\u00a0\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">My Diabetic Soul &#8211;<\/span><\/em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<em>An<\/em> <em>Autobiography<\/em><\/span>\u00a0by A. K. Buckroth,\u00a0I share my life with you\u00a0while enduring\u00a0over\u00a0fifty years with diabetes.\u00a0 The book joyfully begins with\u00a0my\u00a0birth in 1957 following with the medical diagnosis of diabetes in 1959.\u00a0 At the age of two years old, I was tagged \u2013 labeled &#8211; and presently remain acknowledged as a <em>juvenile diabetic.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0At the age of twelve, I was told\u00a0I would be dead before I reached thirty-one years.\u00a0 Zealousness took over after I heard that.\u00a0 It was important for me to get things done: travel, graduate, have a family, etc. before my term was up!\u00a0 This book may even be considered as a historical process in the life of any successful diabetic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>As mentioned, <\/strong>this book travels through a half-century of my life beginning with necessary growing tumults of childhood <em>due<\/em>\u00a0to this disease; on through adolescence; living through peer pressures; one marriage with three miscarriages;\u00a0single-motherhood; college graduations; world travels; and careers\u00a0all while fighting to stay alive on a daily basis.\u00a0 Learning maturity along with self-respect, self-discipline and having to succumb to\u00a0norms of societal conformity have thus far resulted in\u00a0a progressive and happy life.\u00a0 That always was the ultimate goal. \u00a0\u00a0With a soaring spirit, my story is told.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Through nine summers <\/strong>spent at the Clara Barton Birthplace Camp for Girls \u00a0(now known as <em>The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc.<\/em>), I recall being flabbergasted and relieved that there were other girls <em>like me<\/em>.\u00a0 Incredibly awesome!\u00a0 Serious fun through sharing, learning, singing, laughing, playing, and more learning had been instilled in my soul to the present day, <em>my diabetic soul<\/em>.\u00a0 The numerous\u00a0and knowledgeable camp staffers not only guided and directed me towards living healthy, it set the foundation of\u00a0my life, to be able to live my life.\u00a0 I continue to live responsibly and successfully under that guidance.\u00a0 Once you accept to know right from wrong, nothing can be so bad. \u00a0Through the grace of being able to go to camp, I learned how to figure it all out properly with diligence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>With that in mind<\/strong>, proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the ongoing endeavors of <em>The Barton Center<\/em>.\u00a0 That statement is plainly stated in the book along with the address of <em>The Barton Center<\/em>\u00a0just in case a reader or more would like to make a separate donation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Everyone needs <\/strong>a heroine and a miracle &#8211; maybe just a good example.\u00a0 Five decades of living with diabetes has been an honor, a divine gift.\u00a0 Sound corny?\u00a0 Once you read this autobiography, you will not only know what I mean, but you will believe in <em>your<\/em>\u00a0strengths.
