{"id":404,"date":"2010-01-08T14:24:18","date_gmt":"2010-01-08T14:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buckroth.wordpress.com\/2010\/01\/08\/apidra-insulin-bottles\/"},"modified":"2010-01-08T14:24:18","modified_gmt":"2010-01-08T14:24:18","slug":"apidra-insulin-bottles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mydiabeticsoul.com\/?p=404","title":{"rendered":"Apidra (Insulin) Bottles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After having a bout with &#8220;insulin sensitivity&#8221; &#8211; another one of those confounding and numerous\u00a0&#8216;sicknesses&#8217; involved with diabetes, my endocrinologist gave me <em>Apidra<\/em>.\u00a0 Due to using a buffered insulin called <em>Novolog<\/em>\u00a0in my insulin pump for the last eight years, I felt it was time for a change.\u00a0\u00a0 I mean,\u00a0 I physically could feel it was time for a change.\u00a0 My\u00a0\u00a0Novolog\u00a0use had no longer fulfilled my expectations: blood sugar balancing.\u00a0 It\u00a0was just not working the way I wanted it to work!\u00a0 My blood sugars were crazily sporadic for years until I went through a &#8216;bottoming-out period.&#8217;\u00a0 After a reading of 512 with ketones, I was angry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a pro-active and busy individual, my personal research into this quandary was self-convincing.\u00a0 Sure, I was sick.\u00a0 I blamed it on being &#8216;insulin sensitive.&#8217; \u00a0When my diabetes is out of control, not only is my body internally and outwardly ill, but my mind and spirit follow suit.\u00a0 I can feel it.\u00a0 My soul hurt.\u00a0 I had to strongly convince this latest doctor that my insulin be changed.<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned in &#8220;My Diabetic Soul &#8211; An Autobiography,&#8221; a partial and personal belief to this conundrum involves the flippant hormone changes during menopause.\u00a0 Through personal research once again, scientific research into this phase of a diabetic (woman&#8217;s) life is non-existent. You see, too many juvenile\u00a0diabetics die before having the opportunity to experience this particular &#8216;adventure.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Apidra was a miracle solution!\u00a0 After the first three hours of use, my blood sugar level not only dropped 200 points, but my self &#8211; inner and outer &#8211; became totally rejuvenated!\u00a0 Amazing!\u00a0 I could be happy once again!\u00a0 Just a meagre three hours of use remedied months &#8211; months! &#8211; of issued fatigued and wearying fright.<\/p>\n<p>After the initial\u00a0focus of getting and maintaining wellness, I realized that storing and carrying this little vial of liquid preciousness was unexplainable. Throughout my life with this disease, insulin changes have occurred. No big deal.\u00a0 But those vials were always the same shape and size, fitting perfectly into a necessary cold (refrigerate\u00a0-able) carrying and storage case. However,\u00a0Apridra vials are unique in shape and size.\u00a0 They do not fit comfortably in any of the three carrying cases in my possession.<\/p>\n<p>What to do?\u00a0 Well, of course I researched wholesale and retail medical suppliers.\u00a0 I even contacted the Apidra\u00a0manufacturers. I was told &#8220;I know.
