{"id":560,"date":"2011-09-27T17:55:26","date_gmt":"2011-09-27T17:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mydiabeticsoul.com\/?p=560"},"modified":"2011-09-27T17:55:26","modified_gmt":"2011-09-27T17:55:26","slug":"reading-rocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mydiabeticsoul.com\/?p=560","title":{"rendered":"Reading Rocks!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am an\u00a0avid reader, among many things.\u00a0 This means I like to read.\u00a0 No, I LOVE to read.\u00a0 I LOVE being surrounded by books.\u00a0 I LOVE being in the company of books.\u00a0 I am obsessed with reading.\u00a0 I could never be a librarian because I would not get any work done!\u00a0 I have been known to read in moving cars, trains, airplanes, buses and while walking.\u00a0 \u00a0I have preferred the company of a book to some human forms and their wanting to converse.\u00a0 Hmm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A book or two awaits me in my briefcase, my car, my pocket-book, my back-pack.\u00a0 If I have a moment to read one paragraph &#8211; or better yet, a full page &#8211; I will not hesitate to do so.\u00a0 The trend of electronic reading gives me pause if only because I would be able to upload 3,500 books into one unit.\u00a0 That&#8217;s unfathomable!\u00a0 It this is true, it is too exciting for me to acknowledge.\u00a0 No, I&#8217;ll remain with my paper copies and read, read, read.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what is my favorite book or whom is my favorite author,\u00a0 I\u00a0reply that I have many.\u00a0\u00a0 I cannot pinpoint a specific author or book because of this fact.\u00a0\u00a0 Authors Fyodor Dostoevsky, Phillippa Gregory, Anne Rice, Leo Tolstoy come to my mind immediately as greatly enjoyable classic authors.\u00a0 And the abundance of new authors and their works has recently appeased my appetite.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thinking I should share this personal and joyful experience\u00a0with other humans,\u00a0I\u00a0became involved with<em> two<\/em> book clubs.\u00a0 One of these\u00a0clubs I actually began and facilitate at an Assisted Living Center.\u00a0 Gosh, what a blessing these clubs have been!\u00a0 Not only do I get to read\u00a0chosen books, but\u00a0the follow-up\u00a0with an intellectual discussion is exhilerating!\u00a0 At least to me.\u00a0 Heck, such comaraderie got me away from &#8220;the office,&#8217; away from the doldrums of tedious duties, and seriously reminded me that I can share my empowered and progressive\u00a0mind.\u00a0\u00a0 Ahh.<\/p>\n<p>With all that written, I would like to share this years&#8217; past reads with you.\u00a0\u00a0 Yes, I am one of those people that read many books at one time.\u00a0 This helps to attain my sense of accomplishment.\u00a0 Perhaps\u00a0one, two, or more of these books will\u00a0wet <em>your<\/em> appetite!<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wesley the Owl<\/span>&#8221; by Stacey O&#8217;Brien;\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Guensey Literary and Potato Peel Society<\/span>&#8221; by Mary Ann Schaffer and Annie Barrows;\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Codename: Snake, The Evil We Kill&#8221;<\/span> by M.
